Celebrating American-Made
Keep It In The States was created to connect consumers to American-made goods. We love this country and know that American manufacturing is an integral part of its ongoing economic success. We celebrate American-made products while increasing awareness about the challenges facing the manufacturing sector.
We know that many of you share our passion for supporting American-made. We also know, first-hand, how difficult it can be to find these products among the sea of offerings on our shelves. That’s why we are committed to simplifying the process; making it easier for you to shop “made in the USA” and support the American manufacturing movement.
Our Mission
Making a Difference
Did you know American manufacturing has experienced a significant decline over the past 50 years? In 1970, manufacturing accounted for 23% of all US output and represented the largest sector in our economy. In 2020, manufacturing fell to only 10.9% of US total output. This trend is significant for a number of reasons; most notably the fact that the manufacturing sector is the fifth largest employer in the United States accounting for 12.1 million jobs.
We know that the manufacturing sector plays an important role in job creation. We also know that the real unemployment rate* in October ‘21 was 8.3%. The potential for growth within the manufacturing sector presents an excellent opportunity to re-strengthen the middle class and reduce the unemployment rate. We want to
support
the resurgence of American manufacturing by celebrating both small and large businesses that are committed to producing goods here in the US.
* According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Real Unemployment Rate includes people who would like a job but haven't looked for one in the past month, as well as those who are underemployed and marginally attached.

I hope everyone takes the time to remember Martin Luther King Jr.’s remarkable impact on American history. His passion for freedom and the ideals represented in our nation’s founding documents are truly inspirational and a gentle reminder of how important it is to protect these freedoms today.
In celebration, we thought we would share one of our favorite excerpts from the “I Have a Dream” speech that took place at the March on Washington.
“In a sense we’ve come to our nation’s capital to cash a check. When the architects of our Republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men-yes, black men as well as white men-would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Tonight is the College Football National Championship! 🏈 GO Dawgs! In celebration we thought we’d share our favorite American-made football.
The Wilson Factory in Ada, Ohio has been manufacturing the official football for the NFL since 1955. Each football is 100% American-made, from farm to field. Nothing in the Wilson Factory is automated. Instead, every football is hand stitched with precision and care by the plant’s workers. The 120 employees produce nearly 4,000 footballs a day and more than 700,000 footballs per year.
In a town with a population of only 5,334, the Wilson Factory is a significant contributor to the local economy. The pride of American manufacturing is especially evident in Ada, where factory workers have meticulously stitched millions of footballs over the past 66 years.
Just a note… the official footballs mentioned in this post are all made at the Wilson Factory in Ada, Ohio. However, Wilson does produce some recreational footballs that are made overseas. Each American-made football is stamped with the words “Made in the USA”. Please check before purchasing.

Today we are highlighting a small business based out of sunny Florida. Sun and Song is owned by Kimi Chronis, who designs and prints beautiful, one of a kind fabrics. From these fabrics, Kimi creates hand-sewn bags of all shapes and sizes as well as Muslin baby blankets, swaddle sets and cotton hats. We often hear statistics about the Unemployment Rate, but did you know there are two different rates calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics?
The Official Unemployment Rate is the statistic that is most often referenced by the news media. However, it only measures unemployed workers who have searched for a job within the last four weeks.
The Real Unemployment Rate was added in 1994 and more closely resembles the traditional measure of unemployment.
Today marks the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and one of the greatest periods of production in American manufacturing history.
In remembrance, we thought we’d share a brief summary of events from the Pearl Harbor Museum.
“The attack on Pearl Harbor started at approximately 0755 Hawaii Standard Time and ended at just around 1000. Over the course of those two hours, two separate waves of Japanese fighters and bombers entered the Oahu airspace and dropped their payloads of bombs and torpedoes.
At the conclusion of the attack, over 2,400 American servicemen were killed and two American battleships, the USS Oklahoma (BB-37) and the USS Arizona (BB-39), were destroyed.
The Japanese onslaught also forced America out of its stance of isolation and into war production, eventually shifting the tide of history in favor of the United States and her allies.”
